Congratulations to the new year 6 class at SDN 15 Dangin Puri and their teacher Pak Komang Hindu! On Saturday, the 27th of August, 34 students received their Bottle for Botol bottles. By bringing their bottle to school each day these students will prevent more than 180 plastic cups or bottles from entering the waste stream every week!
This class started the eight BfB lessons in February 2016, at the start of Semester 2 in the Indonesian School year, when they were in year 5. They were encouraged by the class above them who had completed the BfB lessons and received their bottles the previous semester. Between February and August they participated in eight BfB lessons, having graduated from year 5 to year 6 in July they are now begining their final year of Primary School.
At 8am on Saturday the 27th we gathered at SDN 15 Dangin Puri with representatives for the Australian Consular General as well as the Hyatt Hotel in Sanur.
The students had written presentations and songs which they performed and their teacher filmed. The songs were to thank their Australian partner school, Alphington Primary School, for their support.
Here are two students with their Symbols of Friendship from Alphington.
The Hyatt Hotel kindly provided sandwiches and local cakes for the year 6 students to show their support for the students efforts to reduce plastic waste in Bali.
